Will an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy test positive?

Yes. An ectopic pregnancy still produces the hormone hCG, which is the hormone pregnancy tests use to detect pregnancy. However, a positive test will not specify the location and viability of the pregnancy (if it’s ectopic).

To confirm the location of the pregnancy, you will need to have an ultrasound.
